Next steps

  • Avoid domain expiration by turning on auto renewal.
  • Renewing your domain name does not renew your email or website. Don’t forget to renew your other products as well.

Renewing my expired domain name

The options for renewing an expired domain name depend on how long it’s been since your domain expired. The domain name extension and its registry rules also affect the renewal process once a domain has expired.

Note: You can renew your domain at standard renewal cost without additional fees up to the 18th day after expiration. If you renew your domain name after day 18, you must pay the standard renewal cost — plus an $80.00 minimum redemption fee.

Expiration timeline

  • On the first day, if your domain is set to Automatic renewal, our system attempts renewal. If automatic renewal fails (for example, your card on file is expired), we notify you via email of expiration and park the domain. A parked domain name will show a temporary web page when entering the domain in a web browser.
  • On the first day, if your domain is set to Manual renewal we notify you via email of expiration and park the domain. A parked domain name will show a temporary web page when entering the domain in a web browser.
